How to write a wholesale diabetic supply request that gets a fast, accurate answer

Published 2026-10-18

Start with exact product identifiers

The single biggest cause of back-and-forth is an ambiguous product name. List the brand, the exact model or generation, and the manufacturer item number, UPC or NDC printed on the packaging.

For test strips, also name the compatible meter. Strips are generally designed for specific meters, so the meter model removes guesswork.

State pack size and unit of measure

Say whether quantities refer to boxes, inner packs or cases, and the count per box (for example, 50 or 100 strips). Mixing units is a common source of quoting errors.

Give realistic volumes and frequency

Share an estimated quantity per order and how often you expect to reorder. A one-time purchase and a recurring monthly need are reviewed differently.

Set your minimum remaining shelf life

Diabetic testing supplies carry expiration dates. Tell the supplier the earliest expiration you can accept at delivery, so only suitable lots are discussed.

List documentation and delivery needs

Note any lot, expiration or other paperwork your team requires, plus the state and number of locations you buy for.

Never include patient information, prescriptions or payment details in a supply request.

General purchasing information for business buyers; not medical advice.
